Writer: J. MaclayJ. Maclay

Dorcus women from area 3 district of the Seventh-day Adventist church in Lilongwe have been trained in milk and coffee production using locally available resources.

The training took place on 30th March 2025 at Nsewa church and was facilitated by Shepherdess Love Soko.

Shepherdess Soko taught the women how soya beans can be used to produce milk and coffee. She explained that she saw it fit to organize the training program as one way of alleviating the hardiships women are going through in these days of financial difficulties.

"Your hands are gold and should be used to provide for your families by using whatever opportunity available to bring happiness in your families," Soko said.

The Shepherdess also advised the participants to make sure they use all skills learnt to start small scale businesses that can bring happiness into their families.

In her remarks, Thokozani Masula Manja, one of the participants at the training session assured the facilitator that they will use all the skills learnt to uplift their families and thanked her for bringing the training program at the right time when people, especially women, are facing numerous financial challenges in the family.

"I will make sure that I put into practice whatever I have learnt here to uplift my family and I encourage all my fellow participants to do likewise," she said.

Manja also promised not to miss any future training program that the church may organize.

Participants at the training program came from all the seven organized churches in the district.
