FIVE DELEGATES TO REPRESENT MALAWI UNION AT PAYC IN NIGERIA




Five delegates will represent Malawi Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the forthcoming Pan African Youth Congress (PAYC) to be held at George Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo Ogun State in Nigeria from 23 - 28 December 2024.


The delegates, all from the Central Malawi Conference are Madalitso Chodzaza and Mphatso Gama from Kawale Church, Arthur Masina from Area 18 Church, Emma Nayeja from Lilongwe Central and Khalani Makunje from Mchesi Church.


The five are expected to leave the country on Thursday December 19 and Sunday December 22 respectively, due to different flight schedules.


Speaking to the delegates on Tuesday, Malawi Union Comference Adventist Youth Ministries director, Pastor Horace Nyirenda, Said he is happy that Malawi will be represented at such a big event.


“PAYC is a continental event that brings together young people and their leaders from across Africa. It is interesting that Malawi Union Conference will be respresented at such a big event,” he said.


The Director further wished the delegates well and urged them to represent the country to the best or their ability.


In his remarks, leader of delegation, Madalitso Chodzaza who is also Youth Advisor at Malawi Union said the delegates will fully participate in all the activities at the congress and will share with the country whatever they will learn and experience.


PAYC is a continental quinquennial event held at Adventist academic Institutions which brings young people from the Southern African Indian Ocean Division (SID), West African Division (WAD) and East-Central African Division (ECD).


The inaugural PAYC was held in ECD at Baraton University, Edorate, Kenya in 2019. The third PAYC is expected to be held in 2029 within SID.


This year’s PAYC will be held under the theme _Cities for Christ_.
