Lilongwe Music Enthusiasts to be Treated to 'Heaven Awaits' Concert

The Central Malawi Conference Music Department has organised a Musical Concert dubbed 'Heaven Awaits'. The event will be held on 2nd February,2019 at Lilongwe Central Church of the Seventh-Day Adventist starting from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

Among the groups to perform at the Concert are; Soft Vocals, The Prophets, Christ Advent Hope, Zenengeya Family, The Chronicles, and Goma Family.

According to Pastor Mchewere Banda, Central Malawi Conference Music Director, the concert has been organized to give people an opportunity to listen to particular touch of music like quartets.

Pastor Mchewere Banda believes that organizing such concerts will improve the Church’s singing standards as groups will be motivated and encouraged through such platforms.

Soft Vocals will be there

“Music is a way of worshipping. We would want to make it a point that people should view Church singing or music as a form of worshipping the Creator and not as a tool for entertainment”, said Mchewere Banda.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Royal Events' Managing Director James Katapa, the sponsor for the concert, said he wants to see the event bringing people closer to God. He is optimistic that the concert will be lively as the groups performing at the event are uniquely blended, with the powerful public address system, classic decoration, and the director of ceremony,Khalani Makunje all up to the standard to bring a concert-mood worthy for worshipping.

Christ Advent Hope will mesmerise too

Katapa said they are making everything possible to make sure that people will not leave the church the same, but rather with something to remember.

"By organising such events will not only benefit individual members, but will also help choral groups to be active, creative, and improve their performance", said Katapa.

He however said he would like to see such events be an on-going program as is done in neighbouring countries starting this year, be it from them or others. Therefore, he implored on other organisers to emulate from this example to organise more concerts.
