MALAWI GOVERNMENT COMMENDS SDA CHURCH FOR HEALTH SERVICE DELIVERY.
The Minister of Health,Honourable Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has commended the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Malawi for complementing government efforts in the delivery of health services.
Honourable Kandodo made the remarks on Thursday, 17th August,2023 when she opened the Malawi Union Conference Health Convention which is taking place at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
The Minister said it was pleasing to note that the SDA church which is one of the government's trusted partners has organised the convention to discuss health challenges and emerging issues affecting people.
" Malawi as a country we have gone through serious health challenges in the past two years like COVID,polio and cholera. This convention has therefore come at the right time as it will also tackle other issues like mental health, depression, hypertension, epilepsy and others. The success of Malawi 2063 and SDGs depends on a healthy population''.She said.
The Minister noted that the SDA church has been one of the key players in health care services for many decades and was instrumental in assisting patients during COVID-19.
She appealed to the church to ensure that there is a clinic close to churches to ensure easy access to health members.
The Health Convention has drawn participants from all the three conferences of Malawi.
Some facilitators have come from the General Conference and Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division Health Ministries departments.
The conference will run up to 19th August,2023.
